Advancement options good for top performing college grads.

Pros

At Target, there is ample opportunity to advance for top performers. Promotion is based on performance and not seniority. The pay is very competitive, and it is possible to increase your starting salary quickly by way of good performance and promotions.

Cons

Target places too much emphasis on needing a college degree to work in a leadership position, or move from an existing leadership position, where one has already proven their abilities to another leadership position. Around 2005, Target decided this was mandatory for all new hires and Executives who were already in position. This has resulted in Target placing some Executives in position solely because of they possessed a degree, resulting in some awesome failures!

not the typical office job that makes you think quickly and teaches a lot of responsibility. Fun group of peers to work with.

Cons

Long exhausting hours with hard to meet goals. Review process can be biased and other departments can either make or break your department.

Good for college students needing to work part time. Discount on all purchases. Meet some nice people who work hard.

Cons

Will hire and not fire any incompetent loser off the street. Good people who work hard get treated poorly while workers that socialize and do nothing keep their jobs. Senior mgt not focused on well fare of team members....only their careers and opportunity for advancement.
