Pros

Target is a good workplace for students looking for part time jobs. They attempt to work with your schedule and the benefits are surprisingly decent.

Cons

Target is a large corporation and with that the main focus of the management is the product and not the people. Just like similar jobs you are overworked and underpaid. If you are looking for a full time job then look somewhere else

Pros

-Pay is much better than other retailers, I left Wal-Mart for Target and got $8k more than Wal-Mart was wiling to pay me. -The benifis are better than most. -Executive Team Leader sounds better than Assistant Manager. -The intranet used makes it fairly easy to find information if there isn't anyone around who can ask.

Cons

-I was told that I would work an average of 50 hours per week and that I was not allowed to come to work on my day off, however I would occasionally work more during the holidays! What a load of crap! I have yet to work less than 60 hours per week and hav had to come to work at least twice on my day off! In order for 50 hrs to be an average, if I have worked 60+ hrs then at some point I should be working less than 50 hrs. -My pay is great, however if you take into account how many hours that I work per week I would make more as a teller at a bank, which is much less stressful. -Also near the end of my training I was told that I would be overnight! I was told that they don't typically tell people this until right before! Hmm that's probably because they wouldn't have accepted the job had they known that, I know I wouldn't have! -Oh and the training that I received was absolutely horrible, I got no formal introduction to any of the processes and procedures! -I got sent into a store that has been horrible for years, I also had a new STL who doesn't understand the processes either, but rather just wants the store to be perfect so they can get promoted! -If you want to work in retail the pay is the best, but if you aren't sure that retail is what you want to do, do not attempt to try it because of the money! -You can't order any merchandise other than food, yea if the store near you doesn't have a product that you want it is because no manager can order that Item because it is all done by corporate, the last time I checked corporate is in Minnisota, so just because something sells in minnisota doesn't mean that it will sell in Arizonal or California! -This experience is probably not typical but I am truly dissatisfied with my job. Other stores seem to have the process on track. -At the end of the day all STL's care about is their bonus that they receive as it is potentially $30k each year.
