Pros

Pay was higher than similar jobs at other major retail establishments Coworkers outside of the backroom were generally friendly and easy to get along with Nice benefits package Did not have to join a gym while working there Flexible with the scheduling

Cons

Monotony of the job and physical issues, i.e. back and knee problems Reviews were not fair- the praise had to match the raise and the raises were always set low Psychologically abusive Backroom Team Lead that HR did nothing to remedy after repeated complaints by multiple team members. ETL positions are usually only given to young, attractive kids fresh from college. If you did not grow up wealthy enough to get your degree young, are middle-aged, unattractive, or are trying to move-up from a team member position without a degree, then don't even think about it. There was always a subtle sense of disrespect and disregard for the team members by the upper management and it was a real kill-joy.

Pros

fun to shop there, but hours were hard to come by, so hard to make much money, hard to live off of 15 hours a week

Cons

had to suck up to the supervisor to get more hours, and even then, it was not much, so hard to make a living

Pros

The training and knowledge sharing were excellent and Target really has a great infrastructure in place in terms of technology. The salary is pretty competitive (higher actually) than most retail organizations I've heard about. Customer service is a key focus and, if salaried, you are permitted to come in on your days off or come in early/stay late to get things done so you can spend time on the floor. There's a really great system in place for advancing, too, and you periodically (every year or two) get moved around in positions so you do not become bored (hard to be bored with so many things to do, anyways).

Cons

Really difficult work/life balance. I often worked 60-80 hours per week in a management position to achieve my objectives and it put a strain on my relationships with friends and family outside of work. Be prepared for the hours. The salary is great but, if salaried, the hours can drop your salary below most of your assistants.
