Pros

Pay no attention to what I'm writing, Instead, seek out people who worked at Trevor in the last year or so. Anyone except someone at the very top will tell you the truth. Then you can decide for yourself. My pros: - At the lower levels, talented and passionate folks doing difficult work. - A worthwhile mission, at least on paper.

Cons

Again, don't take my word for it. Talk to someone who works at Trevor, or worked at Trevor within the last year or so. My cons: - Exceptionally bad (possibly criminally bad) leadership at the very top: the CEO, the COO, and the Board. It's as if they don't know how a nonprofit works, and when you try to tell them, you get fired or criticized for wrong thinking. And then they return to their endless meetings about how important diversity and transparency are. - Morale at such a low level that a whole lot of folks are shy about being definitive about what they do or what they're expected to deliver. - Critical nonprofit infrastructure is missing (if I said it here, you wouldn't believe it -- so instead, talk to someone directly) - Two massive layoffs in one year, and there are more coming (this isn't a guess, this has been said -- behind closed doors, of course) - Employees are attempting to unionize, and good for them. But... the partner union they've aligned with is going to turn out to be a bad choice. All you have to do is look at their books to see that...

Love supporting LGBTQ youth

Pros

I feel lucky to work at a company where every day I get to make a difference in the lives of LGBTQ youth. There's a lot of purpose in the work that we do every day. There's a lot of growth at Trevor and it means a lot to me to see the focus on trying to be there for every trans and queer kid that is in pain. The programming is growing everywhere, from crisis services to advocacy to research to Trevorspace. I'm also really grateful for the money for professional development and the upcoming wellness week. The people here are also so inspiring. They impress me so much and make this a great place to work. Oh, and I am so relieved by our work from home policy and that there is such an emphasis on employee safety while so many of my friends have to go back into an office even with Delta spreading so quickly.

Cons

No major ones. It can sometimes be tough to work at a suicide prevention organization because of the heavy content, but I feel more supported here than any other place I've been.

Love Working Here

Pros

I've worked at a lot of places but The Trevor Project is special. The mission and work we do really does save lives, and the the org is growing quickly to expand its programs to make even more of a difference for trans and queer kids. It's been so exciting to see us grow and invest in our crisis services to help more LGBTQ+ folx on the lines, and I'm also so impressed with the investment and growth in research and advocacy. The people here are also AMAZING. And I've really appreciated the emphasis on diversity and inclusion--the full day DEI training for all employees was really well done and I love the lunch and learns on DEI topics that the CEO hosts every month. It's a really special culture.

Cons

More social events and the hiring process can be slow (though I am impressed with who they hire, just wish it was faster).
