Pros

-Room for advancement, over some time of being there, of course: I worked at the same store and for the same owner for about 8 years, and went from lowest person in the store (Sales Associate) to the Store Manager. -Enough work to keep us pretty busy and steady -I had a lot of regular customers that I got to know, they were really sweet -Pay was alright for not having a college degree or anything

Cons

-My particular store owner seemed a little on the bi-polar side; “You guys really need to step up and focus on sales, and numbers are terrible...” etc. and literally the next day “you guys are so great, so lucky to have you working for me...” okay, which is it? -I saw my store owner 2, MAYBE 3 times per year, didn’t offer much help or support. - No benefits or PTO for vacations or sick days. -Would not get paid for Overtime work, even though it’s the law. I don’t know how he found a way around that. - So much stress put on the Managers’ shoulders from owner, having to then delegate to employees and having them get annoyed with you, like hey, I’m just the messenger. Too much focus on numbers and sales, not necessarily customer service. - “Rules” would change all the time, and we’d have to use up-selling schemes to try to get customers to spend more money than necessary. I didn’t like that, made me feel awful -The straw that broke the camels back was when he threw myself and my other employee under the bus to a customer (who was wrong, we did our jobs correctly) and to the other managers at his other stores in a group text message. -UPS Corporate would treat UPS Stores like the red-headed step-child. Terrible treatment from them. Very political, and all about money, not about people. Buy The UPS Store out, or stay out of it.

Pros

Each day was different, things people ship are interesting. The store I worked at the Owners were very flexible, and they expected flexibility from associates. I learned a lot working for them, and not just about the business, but how to treat employees. They were good to me, and everyone who worked there with me.

Cons

Customers could be difficult, but that's the nature of working in retail. Owner and Manager would take over if a customer got to be too difficult (I guess that's a Pro though)..

Pros

The job is very diverse in what work needs to be done which keeps things interesting. You will need to be able to make decisions based on items brought in and figure the best way to package and ship items. Can be very busy which keeps you from being bored. Learn how to work printers, laminators, binding machines, and much more.

Cons

some days can be very slow and can lead to being bored. Some customers can be tricky to deal with and upset when their packages do not arrive on time.
