Pros

Some good managers. Short hours and high WFH flexibility

Cons

Extremely archaic process with no significant training given. Near complete lack of access to the resources and support available to auditors at other firms. Management and leadership much more concerned with semantics and appearances than audit testing and business control quality. No upwards or lateral mobility whatsoever. Most employees want out and end up having to go to second-rate audit departments at other firms and or take significant demotion to leave.

Pros

I got an offer for M&A as a lateral from another bank. When I came into the office, I was introduced to my "manager" who I did not meet during the recruitment process. As it turns out, this "manager" was in charge of swaps booking. HOW IS THIS M&A????

Cons

I am going to quit. Minus six months of my life wasted at this con-job of a firm. No bonus. No exit. What will I do?

Pros

Nice office in IFC2 Nespresso coffee Great perks for senior management - Free Country Club membership for MDs, extra holiday Good opportunity in HK for below average Swiss bankers to get promoted

Cons

- Constant change - new managers, team members cut, teams merged - it feels like a headless chicken is running HK sometimes - Long hours for junior staff - Salaries are way below HK market rates for locals - Old fashioned processes - made to perform compliance controls that seem like they are from the 1990s - Culture is still an issue - the IB still has issues a la Kweko Adeboli and Tom Hayes - if anything goes wrong, be prepared to be a scapegoat so management can be protected - UBS is potentially going to be banned from sponsoring IPOS due to misconduct - expect big cuts when this happens
