Pros

It's easy to arrive and start at UNOPS. It's a culture of busy and efficient people doing what they should be doing. The approach is mostly to throw you in and have you start running. It's good for those who are not shy of challenge.

Cons

When working on the field, the situations can be extreme, as UNOPS tends to operate in high-risk areas. Keeping your mental balance can sometimes be taxing especially if you are not surrounded by peers.

Pros

Under a good leadership UNOPS can be a heaven to work in. It gives you all freedom to explore your capabilities, its gives opportunity to its staffs to develop their skills through international professional courses. Its a good employer when the local conditions are favorable.

Cons

On top positions the organization is recruiting people less for leadership and management qualities and more for their connections, which is bringing abrupt closures and failures of projects and offices. The latest example is closure of many UNOPS offices in Asia region, including India Office. the HQ doesn't have a mechanism to retain the offices and its experienced staffs. Its a policy failure, UNOPS looks for short term gain and no long term commitment.

Pros

If you are passionate about development and/or humanitarian issues and want to utilize your project management skills, including budgeting, proposal writing, reporting, donor relations, etc while working internationally or remotely, then this is a great place to work.

Cons

Depending on the team you are deployed to, the job can be hard when working with colleagues from different part of the world since you have to, sometimes, attend meetings really early or late.
