Pros

Great experience, training, work-life, officer culture, shooting guns, good times, fun times, good people, leadership development, once in a lifetime experiences such as airborne and air assault school

Cons

time away from family, extra training that may not relate, sometimes get a duty station that you may not like or a national guard unit that is a few hours away from home.

Pros

Being an Officer in the US Army is a great experience where anyone can learn a lot. The variety of opportunities as a Junior Officer can be found no where else. Regardless of branch, the opportunities that are present at the BN and BDE staff levels can provide amazing experience and knowledge that can be used in the civilian world. The key is ensuring that you take full advantage of your co-worker's knowledge and work to improve your unit. Never assume that since you are moving out of a PLT Leader position that you will never enjoy your job again. The work can be tedious, but if you stick to your goals and put in the effort you will be rewarded.

Cons

Long hours and distant work locations.

Pros

The good get promoted, the bad get put out. Standards are high! Challenging and rewarding, just a great job except...

Cons

That looming threat of deployment. Bad ones slip through the cracks. The politically correct movement is taking over and ruining a proud institution
