Pros

Without a doubt, service to country is the best reason to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. Additionally, the opportunities for professional development are unparalleled. In seven years, I have spent almost half that time pursuing professional military education, civilian graduate degrees, and other significant training at the expense of the Army while getting paid my full salary. There are very few other professions which afford a similar training regime to its employees.

Cons

Long deployments to the Middle East clearly take their toll on the nation's service men and women. Unlike the private sector, long hours are not rewarded with additional compensation.

Pros

Amazing organization and makes you proud to be an American and have the pride of making America what it is today just like those who passed before us have done. Incredible travel opportunities. Awesome health care coverage.

Cons

Worry and time away from family while at war. Seemingly low pay compared to what we are doing (putting our lives on the line for the country).

Pros

leadership experience. Being a Soldier means you’re always learning. In the Army, you can take advantage of a long list of job- and leadership-training opportunities giving you the skills to succeed in the Army — and in life. And the strength not only to follow but also to lead.

Cons

one of the biggest drawback about working for the army is that you get deployed a lot, and now that we are in a war, is more dangerous.
