Pros

Mission focused, service to country, excellent benefits

Cons

Promotion structure is less merit based and more subjective than you would think with such a large organization. Constant fire drills taking focus away from what is important toward what is not important. Ratings come from supervisors that are two levels removed, don't interact with you on a daily basis, and form their opinion on your abilities based on assessment from direct supervisors with a conflict of interest to blame their failures on you and take credit for all of your successes.

Pros

travel, great people, experience you cant anywhere else, you get to blow stuff up, you learn discipline, team work and is an overall character builder. Builds pride and self esteem. you learn really quick to enjoy the freedoms that we have on a daily basis.

Cons

pay sucks, rules of engagement are horrible, food is not the best. deployments are long, you could get yourself killed fighting in a war that i for some reason still don't exactly understand. depending on the job that you pick in the military has a lot to do with what you can do in the civilian workforce when you are finished.
