Pros

Decent pay and benefits, dynamic fast paced industry, security, decent hours for associates. Solid, strong union environment supports and defends associates.

Cons

Eroding benefits package, dissappearing pensions, more work for less pay and lack of work / life balance for management employees. Quintessential bureaucratic environment. Rumor is that the DILBERT comics were created by a former Verizon employee.

Pros

Steady job, until the layoffs start. Very good people - all trying their very best in a difficult environment.

Cons

Little opportunity for advancement. Red tape, as you might expect from a legacy telecomm company. Innovation is strongly frowned upon. New ideas are bad ideas. Procedures for everything. Strong focus on establishing blame instead of solving problems. Very little innovation for such a high tech company. As with most other high-tech companies, they think they own you and expect 60 hours a week for 40 hours of pay.

Pros

I like working in technology area. The culture is laid back with flexible hours. But professional growth is limited

Cons

there is lot of politics. The compensation is not in par with the industry.
