Pros

Being in the union as customer support agent - the pay and benefits are the best around. $30/hour, free health coverage, pension and 401k is a rare find these days. Especially for a job like that

Cons

The micro managing and lack of communication are very frustrating. As well as the company forced OT policy and the lack of care of people personals lifes is very annoying. I guess this is somewhat normal for a big telecom company.

Pros

Verizon offers great salaries and benefits for there hourly employees. Management on the other hand actually makes less than the associates they manage. If you are looking to make good money in a management position, then Verizon is not for you. If you are interested in being a technician, they Verizon is the best. They offer great training and excellent pay and benefits.

Cons

Promoting from associate level to management is near impossible. Outside interviewees have a better chance of hiring into management. Associates are looked down upon no matter how hard they work and how much they try to better themselves.

Pros

You get to have one of the two biggest names in the rapidly shrinking cellular industry on your resume. There is significant job security as long as Vodafone doesnt sell out its share of ownership to VZ Comms, then everyone is screwed and there really won't be any good reason to work here. The benefits are really good and you get a great bonus, for now.

Cons

No career development opportunities unless you are part of "the club" click of old timers and brown nosers. If you haven't been around from the beginning then you ain't getting anywhere. Its very easy to get pigeon holed into one veryt narrow job description as well. Management is extremely arrogant. Human resources is completely incompetant.
