Pros

Very good benefits including health insurance, 401(k)/savings program, tuition reimbursement, etc. Company is good about macro-level communication - there is always updated information on intranet, daily news e-mails, regularly scheduled conference calls, etc. Verizon seems to be getting a bit better about making investments in other parts of the business besides the FIOS deployment. Verizon leadership may be starting to "get it" when it comes to what it takes to be successful in the enterprise space and is beginning to more intelligently develop new products and services in the Verizon Business unit though ability to execute is still very hit or miss.

Cons

No effort made to develop the next generation of leaders like great companies like General Electric invest in. Traditional top-down, cost management model (i.e. look at the revenue numbers and cut headcount to make the short term profit numbers with no regard to customer impact). Still very bureacratic environment, many layers of management plus additional "cops" on top of that. Employees are given almost no input in to real changes that affect their day-to-day jobs. While there are regular satisfaction surveys, they tend to drive very visible activity by senior leadership team but absolutely no change in behaviour from the management levels below that.

Pros

The benefits are excellent. They have medical, dental, vision, 401k, profit sharing life insurance and more. The best part is it is 100% paid for by Verizon (and your family is included for free too). The starting pay is great and you get a raise every 6 months!

Cons

The management was inconsistent. She was very unprofessional. Dealing with seniority could be a pain sometime when on the lower rung of the ladder. The job was mindless. Every 28 seconds there is a new call, dealing with a new persons problems.

Pros

Good benefits, relatively short hours with flexible schedules, several professional development and career development programs are available for employees with good performance records, can expect to receive a bonus regardless of the company performance, though you will not know the amount until the day before the payout.

Cons

senior management makes most of the decisions, jobs are awarded based on diversity targets rather than actual qualifications, people will ask you about billing issues, how to use their cell phone, etc. Performance objectives are not always clear and it is difficult to understand how bonus amounts are calcualted. Unions - every 5 years they threaten to go on strike if they do not continue to get free health insurance, unlimited time off with pay, etc.
