Ok place to work

Pros

Management is understanding so it is not very stressful. Nothing would hold back a motivated employee from finding their place within the company hierarchy/roles. There are a variety of projects using a lot of technologies so lots to learn if one chooses. No expense was spared for hardware needs although it did take forever to even get a response for some requests.

Cons

Having started as a Junior developer it was very aimless early on with little professional development assistance or guidance on projects. Corporate will keep bugging you with training/compliance stuff that is super annoying if you have common sense. Most you can hope for in terms of salary growth is small 3% inflation adjustment each year. Excellent performance will get you a pat on the back or a giftcard at most so I would suggest young enthusiastic developers who are not looking for just a internship or something to look elsewhere.

Pros

It’s a job. That’s about it anymore. Can’t say too many positives. It’s nice that it’s a small office type setting so you really get to know your coworkers. Very diverse employee population. You get a 50 percent discount on service!

Cons

I left Verizon after 2 years. They came up with a new commission structure that essentially cut all of our pay in half. Now instead of it being individual commission goals it is all team based. But not just based off of your one store you work in but now your store and it’s “partner store”. So if the other store does bad and your store does great then they judge you based off of both stores sales. My commission checks went from being around $1,200 and up to about $400 a month. High stressful job with unpredictable hours. Don’t expect a lunch break because that isn’t going to happen. You get to do a “working lunch” everyday. That’s where you basically get to run to the back and take a bite of food while grabbing your phone cases you have to show to customers. They did a huge amount of lay offs when they got their new CEO. I didn’t lose my job but a lot of people did. They no longer have one store manager per store but now it’s one store manager per 2 stores (hence getting judged off of the sales of another store in your area). It wasn’t too bad when I started but they make change after change that just lowers the pay more and more.

Commission SUCKS!!!!!!

Pros

The hourly pay isnt bad, but if you work in a commissioned job…..you are not there for the hourly. The 401k is good and they have great PTO (depending on if your manager ever approves it due to low staffing)

Cons

The new commission structure isnt personal. Its team commission. Meaning you can bust your butt, but if your team slacks off, you are impacted. Also, if customers dont leave you good reviews (9 or a 10) your pay is impacted. And commission is capped. So even if your entire team got all 10s on customer surveys and hit EVERY SINGLE METRIC……the highest check you could obtain is $1,800. To some that may work, but for others who worked in the beginning on 2020, thats nothing. We were all getting at least $3k individually.
