Pros

Quick advancement. Pays well for what you do. Not a bad company to work for.

Cons

It's retail. All retail sucks because of customers. Somewhere, at sometime, someone told a customer "the customer is always right" and customers have taken this concept and run wild with it. Instead of it meaning that a retailer should provide a product or a service when a customer wants and how a customer wants it they have taken it to mean that they can be disrespectful and piss all over you and that you should be grateful for it because they are spending $3.00 on a prescription which you, the tax payer, who is working their ass off, is paying for because they have Medicaid. Walgreens will hire you as a "manager" but you will spend most of you time stocking dog food on shelves. When you are not doing that you will be patching up problems that your subordinated have created.

Pros

Lots of growth means opportunity for advancement. The company has a great moral compass. The company offers great benefits. There is a great deal of emphasis on training and promoting from within.

Cons

Lots of growth means people are being promoted that are not qualified for more responsibility. While the company has high moral standards, unfortunately, more and more of the employees do not. ( Includes middle and upper management.) The company promotes a balance bewtween work and home but many managers are always "encroaching" and making employees feel they should be willing to stay later, do more, etc. In addition the growth is undertaken no matter what. Lines in the sand should not be drawn when it comes to the number of stores a company operates. The company seems to have arrived at this decision too. Too bad it was just recently.

Pros

They did provide good training for what I did, and the manager at my store was the best!!! He was very understanding about what I was looking for in the job, and was willing to help me get to where I wanted to be. When I resigned, he even tried to keep me by offering me a chance at advancement, which I certainly did not expect from them for the position I held.

Cons

Pay is LOW! Try supporting a family on $7.00 an hour. IMpossible. Also their three week work schedule, sometimes you work 8 days in a row, just to get four days off. Made life really hard for the three weeks before your four day weekend.
