Pros

Working in the Vision Center inside WalMart is more enjoyable and flexible than being a salesfloor employee; there is more room for professional education and advancement. I've worked inside the vision center for over 4 years, and have since acquired my ABO, NCLE and State Board certificates.

Cons

My department manager, who I work with on a daily basis, is the best boss I have ever had, however the upper management of Wal-Mart like to think they can get a good result from being pushy and domineering. A lot of good workers have been fired under this management for reasons as petty as leaving a key in a door, and taking a genuine sick day. Their tactics are entirely fear-based.

Pros

Worked in the McD portion of the place and it was great to be apart of a good team. Cooking was a must

Cons

Little too harsh and it's really really busy getting tasks that will take much needed time and effort to complete in short times

Pros

High pay and benefits to those few who obtain full-time posts Travel pay used to be exceptional. Paid for travel time at full rate. Some dynamic people in back office.

Cons

Angry customer. Demands of corporate for perfection are unsustainable in a busy store. Pharmacy managers are expected to report on dispensing errors regularly. In reality, they victimize the new and part-time pharmacists. Three attributed errors leads to reeducation. Three more "errors" is dismissal. If you stay perfect and the market manager doesn't like you, they have other methods to remove you that involve the police and board of pharmacy. This is a paternalistic org run like a ship. Advice and disagreement are not appreciated by management at any level. Use and abuse of part-time workers by managers.
