Pros

They will let you take unpaid leave as often as you want (within reason) and still have your job to come back to. There are quarterly bonuses but its based on how well the individual store does - you could get a big fat bonus or nil.

Cons

Even if you bust your ass for these guys they will still put "Met Expectations" on your review. Expect to do a little bit of everything especially if you're on the night shift. I was an overnight cashier and they had me doing maintenance!! In addition to watching and cleaning the registers and front and operating the register I was expected to clean the bathrooms, breakroom, ad office, and foyers as well as stock shelves. And not just a few shelves, im talking all the breakpacks and then all the freight for front half of HBA. AND I had to zone everything I stocked as well as all the endcaps in the whole store. Yes I had to stay late alot. I was punished if I got overtime and I was punished if I didn't comple the work. I like to be proud of the work I do and do nothing halfway but I found myself having to take many shortcuts and doing things half-assed so it would get done.

Pros

You always know what is on sale and where. Employee discount card helps some. There is always a job there, no layoffs

Cons

The store I worked at was ALWAYS late for breaks (we're talking 1.5-2 hrs on average, every day). Constantly understaffed and the employees that were hired, half of them didnt care about the job or fellow employees and call off minutes before their shift. Not to mention the whole anti-union video employees are FORCED to watch during orientation.

Pros

Full-time position with benefits (you have to pay - never used them so I don't know if they are good or not). Pay is above the minimum wage and gives you extra bonus for overnight and working on Sundays. Most of the associates are nice and helpful. They have many locations, so you can have a short commute or car pool

Cons

Management has too many favorites. Communication is very bad from one shift to the next. Even on the same shift very bad and I think it's due to the store being so large and no walkies. Some of the employees are slackers and don't care about getting the job done. When this happens you have to pickup the slack and that can make your job harder.
