Pros

It seems like it's never going to go out of business. My store manager knows what he is doing to bad the rest are clueless.

Cons

The managers for the most part don't care about making money but keeping thier bosses off thier asses. The new scorecard scheduleing system is terriable, I went from working 7-4 with sat and tues off to anytime anyday and they cut my hours. So now I have no idea what hours i might work and what days so its fustrating. My assistant manager is a joke.. he spends more time looking at wemon then actually working.

Pros

It's a safe place to work when it comes to relying on always having a job. The starting pay is higher than similar jobs, most similar jobs for that fact. The discount is always nice, the people where I work at least are great to be around.

Cons

Not to complain too much, but the discount doesn't cover food, except for fresh produce, remodeling takes place way too often, and customer complaints during remodel are outrageous. Yearly evauluations aren't given exactly after you've been working for a year. This is unfair in my opinion, becasuse the amount of raise you are given depends on your work performance, and if you have been working 9 months instead of a year, you feel cheated out of 20 cents because 3 more months of experience were not permitted to you. The customers are very rude, and they do always speak their exact opinion. Management doesn't really care about your opnion, especially if you're young, and this is very evident. At least where I work. It's really too large of a company, I don't like working for it.

Pros

The way the economy is today, i'm glad i work for a company that has everything you need to live, at very affordable price's. The motto, save money, live better is very true. I love going to work, knowing that folks in my community can get whatever they need and still have money left over for other bills. The chance for advancement is wonderful. If you work hard, have a great personality and push yourself everyday to do one thing more than you did the day before, you will get noticed and will get that promotion. Walmart gives so much to communities, jobs, grants, scholarships. they donate millions to the children's miracle network. Why wouldn't i love to work for wal-mart....oh did i mention employees get a 10 percent discount and we get a quarterly bonus called my share, 401k, profit sharing, stock purchase. ect.ect.

Cons

dealing with the public, most people are very nice, but you do get some customers that think they are above you, just because you work at "walmart" hearing people say bad things about wal-mart. im really having a hard time thinking about the "downsides" of working for wal-mart. The pay could be better, health care could be better, but really, isn't that anywhere you work! that is if you are working. super centers only close one day a year, but that's retail for you. associate parking, when it is raining or you are late, you have to park at the back of the parking lot. ha ha ha just trying to get enough words in.
