I litterally cannot think of a pro other than self learning I was able to learn a lot

Cons

Many. work atmosphere very adversairial. told not to train less experienced staff as they "needed to learn on their own". high staff turnover. Poor mental health across the board. Staff going on sick leave from mental health and bullying. Nasty individuals in senior positions who probably wouldn't be nasty outside of work or normally, but are overworked and understaffed. Hence a self fullfilling profecy with the nastiness leading to high staff turnover leading to more stress and more nastiness

- some flexibility if you are in a good team with a supportive manager - good pension

Cons

- company has been going downhill since it got sold - pay is not competitive - outsourcing a lot of the jobs to India, including tech - layoffs and hush hush don't discuss it - a lot of pressure to individual contributors, constant tracking and more being added all the time - quality of what is being build and worked on dropping massively, but as long as it gets out, that's good enough - no internal opportunities for leadership roles - very very slow career progression - you have to interview for the next level rather than for your contributions

Generally most people are nice to work with, the benefits package is fairly comprehensive.

Cons

The company seemingly has no interest in retaining or promoting talent, It seems their ideal employee is someone who is just about capable but is willing to be over worked and under appreciated, with little to no ambition to progress beyond their current role. There's an incredibly clear trend showing this attitude where someone who is talented and driving their area of the business forward leaves because they've been repeatedly denied the promotion/salary increase/recognition/role expansion they deserve. The company then panics to hire their replacement with the exact package and remit the incumbent had requested after struggling to recruit months and months after they left.
