C&P and HR need serious changes

Pros

nice colleagues, good PTO, nice to have AWS

Cons

HR is a joke. C&P is a HUGE joke. They feel they rule the organization and nothing can be done without them. They force projects to be bloated with admin staff, but then don't trust the admin staff to do the due diligence on anything which means they become a bottle neck for everything.

Doing too much

Pros

I’ve worked on a few teams at WRI and have learned that most people’s experience at WRI is dictated by their manager and team. I’ve been lucky that everyone I’ve worked with at WRI has been extremely smart, dedicated, and gone out of their way to help junior staff. Though this isn’t everyone’s experience, senior staff I work with have made sure to elevate my work and the work of other junior staff to leadership while also providing opportunities for growth. It’s a great organization if you’re on a good team but that’s a big “if”.

Cons

Too many small projects spread across a very confusing internal structure which makes it difficult for teams to function well and finish work on schedule.

Pros

Access to very smart and passionate people. Very flexible work schedules. Great benefits. Very interesting and innovative work. Great place to gain experience.

Cons

WRI loves their interns and directors - everyone else in between don't matter as much to them. It seems that they do not care there there is so much turn over with their junior to mid-level staff, which is so unfortunate because there have been some really great people that have left with their knowledge and we have to start all over again. There is very little to no room for growth for the few junior staff. Also, HR does little to help staff with hiring, conflict resolution, etc.
