Pros

-Get to work on a variety of projects. -Work hours are pretty flexible.

Cons

-Nepotism exists. -Some project managers are just junior engineers that obtained their PMP designation, but don't have the experience or skill of the more senior engineers that they are leading. -There are no annual bonuses. -Like any consutling company, it is subjected to boom-and-bust cycles of the Alberta Economy. Staffing ramps up usually only after 6-9 months of high enough oil prices that enable the shelved projects to restart again.

Pros

You get to learn a lot and do lots of different things. Even though it is a big company you get a small company feel based on your business unit.

Cons

Lots of office politics are involved and lots of people who work there because they are related to someone there. Many people not qualified to do there roles but they get there roles because of time served there.

Pros

- Wages are very competitive and almost at above average levels. Overtime compensation is provided at competitive rates. - Benefits are excellent ranging from free life/travel insurance to discounts at local events and restaurants. - Company has a very strong global presence and transfers are possible to other in-country and international locations. - Opportunity to advance to higher positions is possible due to a massive restructuring within the company.

Cons

- Company's policies are too overwhelming. Even many senior employees are not very familiar with the procedures. - No proper team building strategies are utilized. - Frequent change in project leadership roles. - Sometimes ineffective communication within the teams are leading to rework in projects.
