Pros

lots of snacks and drinks

Cons

Management does not care about employees, only climbing the ladder. Having opinions or ideas outside of management is considered "negativity" and you will be blacklisted for outside thinking . Despite the ping pong tables it is VERY corporate. You are not valued. "Turn on the lights" is a core value yet the deceive their employees and their clients. Management is so drunk on the Zillow Kool Aid, they think they can treat employees terribly and no one will leave. DO NOT WORK HERE

Thank you for your feedback. I am disheartened to hear that your experience at ZG was not one you felt was supportive of you, nor your ideas. Zillow’s culture is one that promotes transparency and openness for everyone to be and feel heard. I appreciate your candor as we take each review seriously and learn from them in moving forward to demonstrate delivery on each of our core values. If you’d like to discuss further, I’m happy to jump on a call with you. My direct line is 720-509-8346.

Pros

Lots of free food. Nice view from the office and good location. Zillow name looks good on a resume.

Cons

Little to no support from managers and supervisors. Management talks a big game but I didn't see them act out the values in reality. The culture is completely lacking in support and training. If you can't hack it, you will be let go. And the bar is set really high, because almost everybody below the manager level is in their twenties and doesn't have a family (or a life!), workaholism was common in Finance. This is just a huge bureaucratic (and publicly traded) company now. How much creativity can really come from that?

I'm sorry to hear this. Supporting career development and work/life balance is a huge priority for us, and it's unfortunate you don't feel that you experienced this in your time here. Best of luck in your next job. - Amy (COO)

Don't Do It

Pros

Some great coworkers. Excellent health insurance coverage and parental benefits.

Cons

If you are beginning your career at Zillow and growing within, expect to be perpetually underpaid and never rightsized. Zillow classically "grows" their employees by giving them additional responsibilities or even completely new roles without formal promotions or pay raises for months. Once those promotions do occur, compensation is nowhere near what they would hire an external employee with the same skills. Leadership is nonexistent. Nothing but posturing, grandstanding. The "incredible culture" is a farce and purely for show. The executive leadership team is comprised of bullies with unchecked ego and arrogance and they are largely incompetent. Zillow is constantly attempting to iterate new ideas with shockingly little thought or intention resulting in the dissolution of teams left and right, hence the colossal failure of Zillow Offers. You will not have a voice at this company, you will not be compensated equitably, you will not even be treated with respect, you will simply be a cog in the floundering machine that is Zillow.
