Pros

1) Leadership is fantastic 2) Work is challenging 3) Coworkers are authentic and caring 4) Massive opportunity for growth 5) Benefits are getting better --- namely, 401k match, maternity leave

Cons

I truly love working at Zillow. As the company grows, there is certainly a bit more red tape and process. This can be challenging. However, leadership is aware of this and makes an effort to combat this.

Thank you for the review. Yes, I am definitely aware of the challenges that we face as we grow. And I am committed to minimizing red tape and process (except where helpful!). We have to remain nimble and keep acting like a startup in order to stay ahead. I've always said that "startup" is a state of mind. A company doesn't stop being a startup when it reaches a certain size; it stops being a startup when it stops moving quickly. I think that Zillow, despite being > 1000 employees, can and will still act like a startup -- move fast, think big (one of our Core Values).

Pros

Terrific people, most of whom have backgrounds from some of the top area companies like MS, Expedia, and Amazon. Big industry ripe for change- real estate is a multi-billion dollar category stuck in the dark ages. Chance to work on a disruptive business. Good work-life balance for a start up. Interesting and challenging work- you will work on projects that are core to the company and to its vision.

Cons

Stingy stock grants- which is surprising given that this is what should be motivating employees. Liquidity event is many years away- plan on at least 3-4 years before your stock has value. Still struggling to drive revenue- advertising is an ok way to go, but the company needs more revenue streams. Limited career upside as it is a small company.
