Pros

Loved the people. The team, the work environment, the culture - all were wonderful. Really preached work life balance and upper management practiced what they preached. Great benefits

Cons

Found out about layoffs via the news, rather than from Zillow itself. Misrepresented the success of our program and told us over and over again that we were irreplaceable, and then came layoffs.

Pros

A lot of great people at Zillow. Comfortable place to work - never felt pressured to work while sick or shamed for taking time off. Compensation was fair for my particular role.

Cons

Communication was poor throughout the company, seemingly in all roles and orgs. There did seem to be an effort to address this, but never seemed to yield results. It became clear my role was not being supported, but we were told our role was vital to the company all the time. Then they laid us off in a five minute Zoom call from a new VP who rarely made any appearances since hired - cancelled nearly all scheduled meetings and had a reputation of not being present. They're still there. This was insulting after Zillow upper management suggested the way Better laid off was unprofessional. HR/Hiring seemed in disarray.

Pros

Met some really cool people and co-workers who I call my friends to this day. Good benefits.

Cons

Chaotic work environment Unclear objectives-Nobody really knows what's going on, ever. Extremely unstable This company does lay-offs all of the time, even if they tell you that your job is safe. My two good friends just were blind-sided by a lay-off after their job was promised to be safe for at least a year. I smelled the cool-aid from the beginning and got out and found a more secure and stable role after 5 months. Micromanagement (30 minute lunch breaks where you clock in and out)
