Interview
Applied online. A day later I had a phone interview which included basic questions. Next was the in person which ask about your experience and how you handle certain situations.
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Capital One (McLean, VA) in Sep 2011
Interview
HR phone contact was very brief: consisted of the essential work requirement questions. A link was then provided for an online IQ test. It was somewhat similar to an SAT or GMAT, with some additional mind puzzles. It is timed and there are many questions, so you have to hustle. I apparently did well and was invited to their McLean, VA HQ. They paid for airfare and hotel. About 8 other candidates interviewed that day. I received 2 cases and a behavioral in the morning. After lunch in the cafeteria with potential future colleagues they ask whomever has moved on to the next round to stay until the afternoon. They did this in a sort of shady way where they called one girl over, then said the rest of us were all set, and they'd be in touch. The cases are similar to the examples they give you, and rely on precise math as opposed to other management consulting type cases. Although I felt prepared I did stumble a bit at a couple forks in the case. I was disappointed in my own performance because I am very good at math and problem solving, but maybe fell victim to nerves. I am guessing this is why I did not move on. The one girl who moved on had several years management consulting experience in the DC public sector, this could have been why they liked her for her experiential questions in the behavioral. Not sure.

Question 1
Don't recall. Cases were similar to the examples the company provides in advance. They deal directly with credit card pricing and targeting strategy.
