I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Human Rights Watch (New York, NY) in Dec 2019
Interview
After being shortlisted, I conducted a video interview on an online, timed platform - you have multiple times to practice with the system before you start the actual recording of the video interview. I then submitted my official transcript and 2 letters of recommendation. All of these were considered by the panel before I moved on to the next stage.
The next stage consisted of an hour long video conference interview and the final stage was an hour long in-person interview - they cover the expenses associated with getting to New York but have extra money to cover your meals, transport and visas and they will reimburse you afterwards.

Question 1
Explain your previous interviewing experience and the challenges you have faced gathering testimonies from victims of human rights abuses?

Interview
A few weeks after applying I was contacted to complete an online automated video interview. The questions themselves weren't difficult they were basic questions related to the position and my previous experience. However, the automated interview wasn't ideal for me personally. Once you start the interview you can't pause or restart it and your answers are video recorded and timed. I felt panicked throughout and my answers came off as more robotic because I'm talking to a screen and a ticking clock instead of having a genuine interaction. I think a brief phone interview would have been a more effective way to screen candidates.

Question 1
I was asked about relevant regional work I have done related to the division I was applying to.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Human Rights Watch (New York, NY) in Jun 2019
Interview
Smooth, emails back and forth a bit frustrating (not sure the person communicating knew whether the role was in NY or DC). There was no follow up after submitting written test and overall the whole process seemed so rushed and not well mapped out.
