Pros

Great co-workers and ability to travel. Decent pay.

Cons

Terrible management; expected to perform all expected responsibilities PLUS some with almost zero hands on training. It is sink or swim. Yearly pay incentive if your performance rate is above other DOC's with years of experience. Absolutely NO chance of a raise no matter length of employment. Expect to be verbally and emotionally berated on a daily basis.

Pros

AIG is a very large company and the salaries are competitive with the marketplace. The department I worked for in Brooklyn NY allowed people to work from home which was a plus. There are times when weekend work was required. However, there was compensation. Two people in my group who were consultants were hired as permanent employees.

Cons

Due to size and company structure there is a lot of bureaucracy to get things done or changed. It took me three weeks to get my ID and two weeks to gain computer access. Although, I saw consultants advance to permanent status, other departments were letting a large number of people go. AIG is still rightsizing after their financial issues. Whole departments were let go at very short notice.

Pros

Flexible project assignment, great work from home policy depending on your supervisor. Pay is very good and benefits are excellent. This is the reason most people stay as long as they do.

Cons

Lack of opportunities for advancement, even if you're qualified you may not necessarily get promoted unless someone really high up can vouch for you. The supervisors in the Atlanta office are less than incompetent.
