Pros

AIG is a very large company and the salaries are competitive with the marketplace. The department I worked for in Brooklyn NY allowed people to work from home which was a plus. There are times when weekend work was required. However, there was compensation. Two people in my group who were consultants were hired as permanent employees.

Cons

Due to size and company structure there is a lot of bureaucracy to get things done or changed. It took me three weeks to get my ID and two weeks to gain computer access. Although, I saw consultants advance to permanent status, other departments were letting a large number of people go. AIG is still rightsizing after their financial issues. Whole departments were let go at very short notice.
