Pros

Great Salary Great Benefits Overtime is always available

Cons

No opportunity for advancement once you get promoted to Store Manager 50 hour work weeks which turn out to 60 hours and when you are an SM a lot more Stores are understaffed and DMs are not trained on hiring DMs expectations way too high and unrealistic My training as an MIT was beyond minimal. My trainer was more focused on doing everything himself than actually utilizing and training me.

Store Manager Work Life Balance

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

The Benefits are excellent! Nobody can beat the benefits in terms of cost. Constantly moving and lifting. The base pay is usually determined by store volume. Bonus is paid out monthly based on sales and productivity.

Cons

The work life balance is not good at all. If you are younger and just starting out, this is definitely a great place to start. Being told it is your store to run as you see fit, but if you "think or act outside the box" you are told to change it. Even if it is increasing sales. The stress is sometimes overwhelming so you have to be good at prioritizing your work and time. The longer you work, in terms of years, the physical part will take a toll on your body. Because this is not your typical "Manager" position. You do most of the work and very little leading. There were several times in my many years with Aldi, over 12, that I felt my family was considered second to Aldi.

Pros

Pay and benefits are way above market average.

Cons

Expected to work 70 hours a week. You only manage less than 5% of your day. Every second of your day is accounted for. You will go home wiped out everyday after your 11-12 hour day of non-stop working the floor. DM's do not care about their people, they are only focused on hitting unreachable productivity. You will be threaten to be fired daily. You work most days with yourself and one other person. Entire time consist on 9 employees. DM's have no management experience, they are recruited out of college.
