Pros

None - extremely long hours, little or no benefits and no cooperation from managers, such as needing a day off and getting it, then being scheduled to work on the day off you just were oked for.

Cons

everything. long hours, low pay, little or no help..

Pros

Decent compensation, decent benefits, pension (although making it to retirement is unlikely)

Cons

In IT, no outside hiring has been allowed for years. So, as people leave, the jobs can only be filled by internal people from other teams who are considered "releasable" by their supervisors. The only people considered releasable are the people that the supervisor would rather get rid of. Therefore, the caliber of people has gone way down and there's no way to improve it. You can and will be outsourced at some point. Employees are very expendable and treated as such. Without exception, a great majority of the hours on a project are consumed by the "process", rather than by the real work. A small project ( say, <200 hours ) requires approximately 25 documents.

Pros

I get a pay check

Cons

It's a company that higher management wants miracles from those below. They have no knowledge of jobs they give directives to but expect miracles with no tools to work with! If the public would only know...At one time, I was a proud employee but ever since Texas took over (our president is from where?), it has spiraled downward! They treat the employees with great disrespect and with little to no recognition. Their latest endeavor is to impose mandatory overtime with no end in sight. Family and AT&T are atonyms. Techs are out in the field doing work with broken or no tools because of budget contraints, yet they have millions of net profit dollars every year.
