Pros

First off, at&t is really ‘SBC’. Based in Texas, SBC bought at&t’s name and network, when ever you hear at&t now, it’s not the old at&t you’re familiar with. When SBC bought Pacific Bell, SBC received much negative publicity because their corporate atmosphere is rather harsh. I feel the Bellsouth takeover wasn’t given much media attention as far as SBC’s treatment of employees, because they’re getting rid of employees slower. The best reasons to work here are good benefits & above average salary. Had the same with Bellsouth. Bellsouth was a much more employee/customer friendly place to work, but with the economy downturn Bellsouth was beginning their path to an ‘SBC’ culture as well.

Cons

So far, at&t is by far one of the most hostile environments in which I’ve worked. I know of no previous Bellsouth employees that likes “the new at&t”. at&t will squeeze until they can't get anymore from you. After you're used up, consider yourself gone. View this job as a temporary stepping stone to something better.

Pros

The ability to prosper within your career and having AT&T Mobility as reference is simply amazing. The value of the people, organization, and overall atmosphere of AT&T Mobility not only makes this organization great to work for but it makes it great to work hard for.

Cons

Since the iPhone there have not been many :)

Pros

Good salary and benefits (before they started taking the benes. away). Allowed for telecommuting which was great for productivity.

Cons

Huge bureaucracy , restructure/layoffs every 6 months but the execs who needed to go were just shifted into other roles. This is an organization that is uninterested in doing things any differently than how they've done them since the beginning. The culture is hard on new folks who want to be team players - there are no teams here - just bosses and employees. A co-worker of mine referred to working at AT&T as the 'POW Syndrome'. You just sit in your cube with your head down and hope that the constant chaos would somehow not affect you.
