Pros

you do still get paid

Cons

Oh my, where can I start. RTO has become the literal iceberg to the Titanic. It first started by closing the Redmond Town Center offices and moving everyone to Bothell. Hey AT&T Leadership, every other tech company (TMo,Meta,Google,Apple,SpaceX,MSFT,Amazon) is in Bellevue/Kirkland/Redmond, where do you think your talent is going? Just in time for the new light rail to open with a station in RTC. Folks forced to move to hub location, even though their work is entirely siloed and they don’t collaborate with anyone. Fired if you don’t move. Morale is insanely low, the only collaboration that goes on is people complaining about crazy new mandates for being in office. Teams calls with people from the same team, sitting just desks apart, you can hear the person speaking through the other persons mic, frequently folks taking calls from common areas/lunch rooms because they can’t find a desk…..they could literally be anywhere in the world with internet and be more productive. Not enough desks, not enough parking spots, not enough toilets, not enough coffee cups. Rumors off the charts, literal report cards on the number of hours you are in the office, geo fence on your work issued cell phone. Total inability to have any work life balance. Have a doctors appointment in Bellevue because you live there and worked there for years, better take 4 hours of PTO to make up for the time out of office. Apparently FLSA does not apply as except employees are being treated like hourly. The only thing of importance is that your laptop and cell phone are in the office, never mind the multi million dollar project you are responsible for. The only logical reason for this is a soft layoff and that’s just a terrible way to treat your entire workforce to save paying severance.

Pros

You get random bonuses called FAME that come in handy as a sales incentive. The actual employees are pretty cool people

Cons

Terrible leadership, they are unprofessional and lack accountability. They micromanage you like crazy. They hold you to unattainable metrics and then are on top of you for making the unattainable goals. Terrible communication skills. They don't have a solid leadership team, and half of the time, the management team does not know how to help you or doesn't want to. There are no team leads. There is very little room for upward mobility because the managers refuse to venture off into a new role as they have been there for 40-plus years. There are no sick days. The pay is horrible. You're given PTO, but can barely use it. The facility looks like a prison, and it is an unmotivating environment.

Pros

Pay is great. Benefits are sufficient. Bonus structure is generous imo. The people are generally pretty great. A lot of passions, even in the midst of some pretty terrible "Big Brother" policies.

Cons

RTO requirements are so patronizing. C Suite clearly doesn't trust their management to lead their teams effectively. They micromanage attendance, requiring in office work before the campus is actually prepared to handle the total number of employees. The food options are ridiculously overpriced. Parking and shuttling to and from the office will att another 30-40 min to your commute. I would venture to guess that one of the benefits of these policies is to reduce headcount without the L word and open up space to cycle in new blood for fresh outlooks. Lastly, the company doesn't provide adequate supplies employees need to do their job effectively. You are expected to purchase your own stuff in a lot of cases (note: some free stuff is given out, but it's usually at events).. Like a badge holder, headsets for calls, att branded clothes, extra charging cables, mouse/keyboard for your laptop (not all desks have them), etc.
