Pros

Not sure if it´s a Pro but as people may notice most negative reviews are from Claims, Policy Management and Helpline. I guess the situation in other departments is not that bad as it is in ours...

Cons

Recently many people are talking about the salary in the Claims department. We´ve all done some research online about the new 29k salary that Allianz offers and somehow it seems that we never had a fixed starting salary. Some of my colleagues explained that they managed to negotiate a higher salary as they started a few years ago. One of my colleagues even told me that he was hired as a Senior Claims Officer with a 30k salary. And before HR replies and writes that we should not believe all gossip that we are told - the mentioned employee told me face to face about his initial salary and position, so it´s not a gossip. It´s a fact!!! I´m over 3 years in the company. I did my APA but I´m still on the same position. I´m still a Claims Officer. No one even can explain what a person needs to do to get promoted. We are even constantly explained that every Senior is doing different tasks and that no one can clearly explain what it takes to get promoted. Since I´m in the company I´ve seen Claims Officers taking over additional tasks. I´ve seen Senior Claims Officers who are only processing claims without even being trained on additional tasks or special groups. People are coming and leaving Allianz Care and for me it seems the longer people stay the less they are motivated.

Pros

Good Work Life Balance. We were on Flex Schedule in the Richmond, VA office. Some positions were allowed to work from home. Benefits are phenomenal (medical, bravo points, etc.). Career services/advice available. Team events are cool. Inclusive and understanding environment. Transparent on business plans and future plans as whole to all levels of employees which creates a sense of ownership.

Cons

As a result of being an inclusive environment, there are employees who take advantage and slip through the cracks even though they don't perform well. It makes tasks a lot harder for the rest of those who are performing well, as they are the ones who are visible on the work process. Too many unnecessary, "touchy-feely" meetings about how someone felt hurt by the way the other employee sneezed so to speak. It is hard to move up because positions are only created for those who are best friends with management regardless of competency. As a result those around them are either blamed for not "providing" the correct information or proper training, when in reality that employee put in that position lacks the ability to retain or even do their small day to day function. For example, they hired someone to a computer heavy (microsoft office) position that kept asking if she was in Microsoft word and did not know why any of her words are going into a document like mine, when in reality she was in a windows folder... Another person consistently did not know where her mouse was on the screen and needed assistance to find it. These are basic functions published on the job description otherwise, but individuals are moved up from operations regardless of competency and connections form within. (friendship with other managers). This is not an issue if people who were given those opportunities are given to individuals who proves they can do the tasks. There are so many people trying to get hired and are scrutinized for not having the job descriptions stated, meanwhile you are pushing through folks who does not even meet even a little bit of the description.

Pros

Lots of great people. Flexible work hours, options for working from home for some. Interesting work when you enjoy working away by yourself, options for interaction with others as well, if you prefer that.

Cons

Master capitalist management which makes the company kind of a safe place even in economic crises. Profit-oriented to a measure where it gets ugly. "People are like chairs to them" someone recently said.
