Pros

If you aspire to be over-worked and under-appreciated, this is the place to be.

Cons

Long hours, poor management at most levels, incompetent head bobblers are retained but anyone who challenges the status quo are shown the door. If you want to have a career here, keep your head down and keep nodding "yes"

Pros

The idea of the company is the only good thing about this job. Where you are saving lives. That's the only reason I can the star.

Cons

I have to say there isn't one employee there that likes their job. The only thing they like about the job is it actually saves lives after that every single worker would leave and love to leave. Where to start...... Work load, management, time wasting, constantly changing procedures, they don't listen to their employees, sexual harassment, keep you on the hook for promotions, they don't pay you for what you actually do, very cheap, lazy people that have worked there for so many years get passes on work load, the work load is not equal, no free time, scheduling, constant travel, zero turn around, no free time, if u have kids there is no way you can do this job, during horrible weather the people that are out working in it they don't care, they will literally use every inch of energy you have to give .... I mean the list can go on.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We are glad to hear that you and your fellow employees believe in the Red Cross mission, and we also appreciate your bringing to our attention your concerns about workplace environment and employee morale. Sexual harassment is not tolerated under any circumstances at the American Red Cross, and we urge you or your fellow employees to speak to a supervisor about this issue. In those cases where an employee or volunteer is not comfortable telling his or her supervisor or local management, he or she may contact the Concern Connection Line. That 800 number can be found on the organization's intranet site. Our mobile phlebotomist positions do require a hectic traveling schedule—we encourage hiring managers to be as transparent as possible about the job demands during the hiring process, and we also encourage employees to address scheduling and workload concerns with their supervisors. Many Red Cross employees have gone on to establish long-time careers at our organization; however, such opportunities do depend on location and job availability. We encourage you to speak regularly with your supervisor about opportunities for advancement. We take these reviews seriously, and will pass your feedback on to our leadership.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate your feedback regarding work/life balance and are bringing this to the attention of our leadership team. The Red Cross takes federal blood collection regulations very seriously and encourages employees to report any concerns or suspicions of mishandling. Under no circumstances do we tolerate racism or sexual harassment in the workplace. We encourage you to review our organization’s policies (found on our company intranet page) and report such behavior to the appropriate level or to our Concern Connection line (the number for which can also be found on our intranet site) immediately. Each biomedical region and chapter has an HR advisor assigned to it, and you may feel free to reach out to this contact at any time. There is a document titled “Identify You Local HR Representative” on our intranet site that will help you to find the correct point of contact.
