good people hindered by bureaucracy

Pros

Strong sense of culture to make a different in people's lives, through many different ways. work life balance is well managed and appreciated.

Cons

Feels like the 100+ year organization it is when you are in need of hr support, tech support, or other help from corporate roles. Historically, the secondary corporate roles have been shifted and re-shifted from location to location, several times depending on senior management and the charity's financial situation. Be aware that you might be asked to change work locations after a few years if there is another need for corporate restructuring.

The travel could at times be hectic and stressful.

Although travel is a requirement of some positions, we have put measures into place to make the process as painless as possible. We also agree that frontline staff have valuable opinions and contributions to the organization that should be heard. Flexible. The non-profit is very family friendly. Great PTO and health insurance. Get to work with great volunteers.

Cons

Micro-managed. The non-profit is like run like a middle school. New ideas are not accepted and ignored by "old-timers."
