Pros

You work on very well strategized and planned campaigns with great people dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights. Once you step into the organization, you are part of a family. Expectations and goals are high, and there is a collaborative team effort to reach them. You find yourself in countless training and skill-share meetings to deepen your knowledge, sharpen your skills, connect with advocates from all over the world to make a change. And you do make a change. This is a place you see no drama, but real work done. There is always room to grow and get promotion. Contrary to many other big international organization, AI offers very good opportunities for young people.

Cons

Decision making can be slow because of the structure. You may not take an action as radical as you want because of the structure.

Pros

Everyone has a great attitude and is passionate about human rights advocacy. Room to be creative and explore your ideas for approaching social justice campaigning.

Cons

as a volunteer, no $. not a con, really, just disclosure. community is different. regular contact with AI paid staff, so from this perspective: cons are that short of the 'goals' being to improve the conditions of those highlighted people who's human rights have been violated, there is no real organized process to achieve these goals.
