Pros

Global company that provides a diverse experience for its employees. Baxter pays well and as a company Baxter stock is sustainable in good times and bad times.

Cons

Management wise, Baxter is a hit or miss company. I have most recently had the worst Manager/Sr. Manager I have ever experienced in my career. I am not the first to leave this organiztion because of this Sr. Manager and definitely not the last as several others will be leaving as well in the coming months. I have also had the opportunity to work with the BEST Manager/Sr. Manager is my career. This manager cared about my development and also wanted to put me in the best position to succceed and we did, together!!

Pros

Medical device industry is very interesting and rewarding. You are truly involved with development of products and systems that make a difference/save lives. There will always be a need for talented, qualified people in the industry. Decent job security in a tough economy (though layoffs are frequent there, too). Great people to work with: top notch in their areas, very experienced, and most keep the customer in the forefront at all times.

Cons

Baxter has had numerous missteps in the past 5-8 years (FDA consent decree, products on recall, etc.). The overall brand equity of Baxter has suffered. Poor leadership + top tier management over the years. Extremely lengthy product development cycles making it difficult to launch new products.

Pros

Dedicated employees, summer Friday policy at corporate (half day Friday from Memorial to Labor Day), you can always blame someone else, some of the HR Leadership team is really good and competent.

Cons

In the HR organization you can always blame someone else, there is a lack of accountability by some senior HR leaders, CVP of HR makes decisions by consensus and does not take a hard line without some support from another part of the leadership team.
