Pros

Baxter has been going through many changes in the last couple of years. Buying Hill-Rom, spinning of the kidney portfolio. - The people I work with have been great. For the most part helpful and dedicated. - The company had pretty decent benefits. Better than I've had at my last couple of companies but still not as great as they have been in the past (per longer term employees)

Cons

- This is a huge risk adverse company. There is a lot of "that's not within my scope." Not that people don't want to help. We are all so siloed that even something that should be simple takes an inordinate about of time to get resolved. It's frustrating to have to contact multiple people to get one approval or one answer. - Managers (at least lower level) have too many reports to be effective. Most people are working remotely, at least part of the time, so everything is Teams calls or messaging. It's hard to have any feeling of being a part of something. Again because of the silo and no cross-training. - Because of the number of reports, training is lacking and getting answers takes too much time. - Because everyone is siloed you don't know where to go outside your immediate area. - When Baxter bought Hill-Rom, we went from unlimited PTO to 4 weeks combined sick time and vacation.

Pros

Good benefits: health insurance, paid time off,

Cons

I do not understand how it is rated as one of the best places to work, toxic culture and does not care about employees.

Low morale, Compromised internal reputation

Pros

There are very talented, genuine employees in legacy Hillrom. The base pay was competitive, but I received a small fraction of my bonus. It was tied to overall plant and company performance, which was outside my control and an abysmal failure by leadership.

Cons

Procurement leadership is out of touch with their employees and the work being performed. They dismiss concerns and questions when expressed by direct reports and other department leadership. This leads to an ineffective working relationship with Ops, Engineering and Finance. Our credibility is seriously compromised. Morale is at an all time low due to layoffs. There is a poor work/life balance. It's expected that you routinely meet and work outside of typical business hours. When you take PTO, you have to remain available for emails and calls.
