On a serious decline

Pros

Decent benefits Above average pay Very Good PTO Excellent co-workers

Cons

Current CEO (not Mike Hawthorne) is making very questionable decisions about manufacturing locations. Doesn't seem rooted in sound business decisions. Parent company is German and has taken over most of the decision making for the product teams. Everything is about short term profits, leadership is non-existent, especially at the plant level. Promotions are available to an extent, then very hard to breakthrough to management.

Pros

New building. Nice people to work with

Cons

Horrible middle management. After Mike H. was told to resign to make room for KB placed mythical figure, the company is just an impossible place to work. H1B visa's associates are taking over American workers. Reduction in force-RIF and voluntary (involuntary) separation program slashed 100's American jobs, but H1B visa people were kept in place. Hypocrisy at its best. And the company goes back to the Department of Labor to request for H1B visas because, allegedly, they CANNOT find American workers. Go figure.

Pros

- Safe, Stable - Many Opportunities for Mid/Early Career Professionals. - Established Brand Recognition - Very good engineers in Avon. Opportunities to network with parent company are outstanding. - The company has good intentions regarding strategy and vision. The execution seems to be lacking.

Cons

- R&D Investment is trending down and is already below what is typical for a tech company. Slow to adopt new concepts. - Seems to lack a cultural identity and a long term direction. Adversarial relationship with customers and community. - Implementation of initiatives seems amateurish; Diversity, Recruiting, People Development, Labor Compliance, Cyber Security, etc. - No one is accountable for anything.
