The senior managers are nice and appreciate what you do.

Cons

Junior level staff can be quite arrogant. Executive assistants that manage other assistants tend to be jealous and not very good Managers. Instead of appreciating a hard worker they try to discredit in fear of losing their job to them. Shameful. Reason for low score.

Very highly regarded company, with a lot of flexibility to move into different roles. Great talent in most areas of the firm. Excellent benefits.

Cons

Culture has gone full reverse from what it once was, comp is being consistently squeezed and the environment has become very toxic.

Pros

Smart people, everything feels important and the company has a great strategy. And the ETF business is crushing it.

Cons

the environment seems to create weak managers, the MD ranks are pretty poor managers, no connection to staff, and pretty out of touch. Not sure if it's because of the demands on them, or if BLK just hires/promotes people for the wrong reasons. I have found the deterioration of the work environment troubling - I once planned to spend my whole career with BlackRock and now i can't wait to get out of there.
