Pros

Room for growth when it's available. Great salary when you get to underwriting (no bonuses). Great people to work with, and benefits are very good.

Cons

0 loyalty, 0 transparency, and 0 HR assistance. Citi will treat you well until they don't need you anymore, then they will be happy to lay you off or make you work an insane amount with no thank you. There is absolutely no transparency from upper levels of management. They will break endless promises and shift you as needed. If you run into issues with your paystub or Citi related benefits, good luck. I was still on their payroll over a month after my last day (quit voluntarily) and had to reimburse them all of the money they accidentally paid me. I couldn't even get a letter saying I didn't work there anymore so I could sign up for health insurance elsewhere. And couldn't even get someone on the phone (except for a call center in India). Would hate to think of what happens to people who REALLY need HR help. Escalated ethics concerns as well but didn't see any changes. Like any other corporation, Citibank is willing to screw you over if it benefits their bottom line. They are great to work with until they aren't, so tread carefully.

Pros

IT developers, engineers, architects and PMs are great; hardworking, competent, collaborative. I liked my manager, my managing director and my colleagues.

Cons

They pay as if it’s a domestic bank instead of a 24/7 global operation. First, you start the day working on APAC, EMEA, LATAM and NAM task progression. Next, the regulatory, compliance and risk management project milestones are equally important along with the functional requirements unique to the project. In parallel, you’re expected to deliver the project tollgate milestones along with the sponsored ones thusly for every project assigned there’s a second one to implement alongside it. An added pressure exists if you’re project is regulatory and compliance in nature and at times you report to 3 PMOs. $110K was my starting salary despite a masters degree, 15 years experience and several certifications and years on the job as a contractor. Every year I stayed made me feel like a bigger chump and there’s no way to close the gap unless I jumped 2-3 classes.

Pros

Good role for someone just out of university

Cons

Long work hours on boring and repetitive work, with management constantly promising that its only for a short period of time, but it never really changes Next to no bonus Very small pay bump
