Pros

There is not a single aspect of working for Dish Network that I would recommend to anyone, let alone my worst enemy. As someone born and raised in CO, you are warned from birth to avoid working for this company. As someone that made the mistake of taking a chance, I can assure you that the warnings are real. DO NOT WORK HERE.

Cons

The culture at DISH is one unlike any that I have experienced in my entire career, and unlike any that any other person I have ever met can comprehend. This is not a good thing. They do not care one bit about their employees, and the archaic policies make working here unbearable and degrading. I know several people personally that have developed depression as a result of being an employee of DISH. If you value your sanity and any sort of work-life balance, find anywhere (and I mean anywhere) besides this company.

Pros

-Knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming peers. -Team leads are passionate and always do their best to help if asked

Cons

-Constantly changing priorities -Overwhelming amount of feature work that can barely be kept pace with -WFH policy stripped away by upper management -45hr per week minimum required for raises and promotions -Because of break neck pace issues arrive often, but time is not allotted to fix them -Only able to fix issues when an exec decides to push a specific issue to max priority because it affected them or someone they know -Constant threat of layoffs -Institutional knowledge not valued by upper management. People who have been around for a decade+ and are the only ones who know how something works will be laid off for cost cutting. -Desperately trying to pivot, but unwilling to invest in innovation. Teams are expected to innovate on top of feature work and prototypes are expected to be presented before any time will be allotted to working on something new. Meanwhile all of the companies money is funneled into buying up smaller tech companies in a desperate hope that they can fund the bureaucracy. -Constant changes in upper management where they are replaced by people who have been with the company mere weeks.

Pros

- Quality peer employees who are friendly - You can learn a ton on the job (mostly trial by fire because they don't want to hire someone who already knows the skill and will expect more compensation)

Cons

- Toxic Management - prepare to feel belittled, disrespected, and like a number unless of course you're one of the boys - Impossible Deadlines - 45 Hours minimum in office or you get reprimanded - Micromanagement - No WFH Work Remote - Health Insurance is expensive and bad - 401K Doesn't vest until 5 years - So many people leave that it is impossible to get a long-term cross department project done in a reasonable amount of time - Terrible Managers are allowed to stay because they are the only people who are willing to tolerate the environment and not based on their ability to motivate and inspire their direct reports - Repeatedly assigned projects with absurd deadlines or outcomes and solutions were slapped together to please leadership because everyone is too scared to look bad and get yelled at
