Where does one begin? First of all, the IT infrastructure is a total cluster. You're never pointed in the right direction as to who does what (and this is after asking management), there's a treehouse mentality among the management/Sr. management, they expect you to deliver world class service, yet you're provided meager resources . When it comes to rolling out major apps/features, IT management drops the ball constantly (no announcement to the business beforehand, or my "favorite," have it go live, have end users blowing up your emails asking why did changes occur and not having the answers thanks to management not providing intel (in meetings, emails days before the go-live date) about said app/feature. Team meetings are sporadic, management will go days (if not outright ignore you) responding to a pressing issue unless it's a pressing issue to them. They WILL throw you under the bus without question. Having a Sr. Manager outright tell you that "When someone asks me what my job is here, I tell them my job is to make my manager happy" says all you need to know about how they view you as an employee and as a person. Management will tell you that they're paying you top dollar for a "Sr. level" position, yet the market value says different...VERY different. The merit increase in the company is absolutely a joke (they might as well hand you a roll of quarters). And there is ZERO opportunity to grow and move into other roles within the IT dept. there.
