Pros

Satisfaction from serving our customers, and their appreciation. Fairly decent pay and benefits.

Cons

Lack of appreciation for tenured employees. Too much negative feedback, very little positive feedback. Unrealistic, "manufactured" goals. GFTP and open door policies are merely procedures in place to give the appearance fairness, when they simply serve as management tools to further management agenda and goals.

Pros

Upper management in Portland, OR is very interested in developing those below them. Medical benefits are great. Job security is very high for a manager as long as one does not date package handlers, maintains one's integrity, and shows up every day with a good attitude. Every day is a little different, but similar enough that one can learn how to perform the job. If one can survive at FedEx, one can thrive anywhere: it's good training.

Cons

The work is intense and demands a wide range of soft skills, mostly in the areas of dealing with people and solving problems. The last few years, the company has not paid out bonuses that were earned.

Pros

They offer up to $3,000 per calendar year in tuition reimbursement for college expenses (grades of "C" or higher required) as well as great benefits for part-time employees. They also offer many ways to climb the company ladder and have great leadership potentials. Paid vacation is offered to all employees, even part-time.

Cons

Odd hours compared to most jobs. anywhere from 3-6AM starting or 4-6PM starting, but shifts generally don't last more than 4-5 hours. There is lots of training and paperwork associated with most things, generally for good reason, but procedure sometimes rules over common sense, as with any workplace. Sometimes difficult to get time of when needed, but if you don't require lots of time off, then it works out ok.
