Pros

people were friendly, but all of them complained about each other constantly, cliquely.

Cons

Management treats apprentices poorly, they have a bad reputation for it. Mass hires and disposes of the remainder. Threatened my job after 3 weeks as a new hire if I didnt go to school straight away ( after telling me 2 weeks before hand not to worry about getting to class right away, not to stress about being let go for that, and to get into school when I can financially afford it in the spring. ) After returning from school as a 1st year, they let me go anyway after id spent all savings on school, during xmas the slowest time of year for every industry. Management will lie to your face & put you under financial hardship for zero gain. I could have been put back on the union board to work elsewhere that would have kept me as a rigger/apprentice long term; Instead went to school to secure my position with the company and was let go after using all my savings to do so & an empty winter job board. Everyone talks poorly of who they are training & apprenticing in a trade thats STARVING for people. Eating Their Young. Some of the jms were nice, but in general the atmosphere is stuck up. They kept a new guy that I parked a trailer better than and worked harder than. Overheard Jm complaining they placed unqualified new hires into rough terrain cranes without schooling. Dangerous to let people who dont have crane planning/rigging knowledge operate without supervision on sites. People who havent been through crane school operate them while the industry is having accidents left & right.
