Pros

As probably others have mentioned, the work from home opportunities are attractive and the PTO is seductively large. I've had the pleasure of meeting Scott and talking with him and by all accounts, he's a good guy with plans to make the company a better place to work To this end, they've instituted a employee recognition program where you can send a public notice that you appreciate your coworker whether it be for a small act of bureaucratic kindness or for a big large favor. They've jazzed up the place. There is a notable amount of balloons and tinsel than 3 years ago

Cons

As a foil to the initially attractive compensation package, the 401 K contribution is a race towards the bottom for sure. Last year, HR informed us matching would be 1/2 of 3%. This year, they've instituted a monthly matching payout that is even lower. Unfortunately, I've gotten to know the HR department well enough to note that any questions about PTO and OT are always settled in company's favor. Example: Suppose your coworker was out on bereavement (her father died). She was gone for 3 days, came back Thursday, worked for 10 hours that day and 12 on Friday. One would think she would get 7 hours of PTO, but that would not be the case. According to a technicality in the Fair Labor and Standards Act, your coworker worked 22 hours and would only be eligible had she worked 40 hrs and FADV has chosen to enact it. This is nowhere listed in the employee handbook, additionally. Unless there's a clear law against a labor practice, FADV will allow it

Thank you for your feedback! We’d like to address your concerns regarding the 401(k) match. In previous years, we’ve calculated the employee match as an annual lump sum. In 2018, we’re providing the company match biweekly, concurrent with employee pay periods and in line with industry best practices. Our company match previously vested immediately and continues to do so with the new bi-weekly deposits. This is a key feature of our plan, which we hope will enhance the 401(k) benefit for employees over the long-term. Regarding your colleague’s paid time off, all PTO is accrued on a bi-weekly schedule based on years of service, and the schedule is outlined in the Employee Handbook. If you have any questions regarding the accrual schedule, please reach out to your HR business partner for clarification.
