Underfunded IT

Pros

A large portion of US is home based employees, great if you're somewhere else and want to work for them. Implemented a new "employee first" pillar, meaning it's now acceptable to ask for training. Management claiming this will lead to advancement opportunities. Typical health benefits are available

Cons

IT is in a perpetual "do more with no funding" state. The same key people are required for every project, and there's a battle to get the funding to fix the issues that you're being beat up for allowing to continue. IT funding is based on last year's revenue, not the expansion that is required for next year's growth. Travel funding seems to be limited to senior managers (who are always on the road), so you'll never meet your team mates. 401K match and bonuses are paid out six months after the year ends, and only if you're still here. Makes it hard to collect on last year's work if you're looking to leave.

Hi, this is Nick Grecco, Chief Information Officer here at First Advantage. I appreciate your feedback and would like to clarify our policies and also to inform you of some of the recent changes we’ve made to improve our corporate culture. • Employee First is a multi-faceted initiative to improve First Advantage for all teammates, and we agree that it’s a major “pro” to working here. To date, it’s resulted in an on-demand learning system featuring more than 1200 courses, a modified 401K plan, the elimination of the bell-curve for performance reviews, the streamlining of performance management globally and an improved focus on employee recognition. While our teammates have always been able to request training, the Employee First pillar ensures that this message is cascaded to everyone and also that they are kept abreast of all available opportunities. • Regarding the way we allocate assets within IT, FADV is a modern-day organization that similar to others in our industry is working at increasing our efficiencies and effectiveness in our market place. This has led to some streamlining of roles and responsibilities to support our overall strategic objectives, including technical innovation. • Travel funding has always been open to all teammates based on their role and need. I regularly approve travel with supported reasoning, and this includes travel required for training. • Additionally, all participants in the 401K plan who are active employees through December 31 of the plan year are entitled to the company match. These funds are automatically deposited into their Fidelity retirement account whether or not they remain with the company in the following year. To your point, in previous years we have seen a delay in the transfer of these funds; however, to remedy this situation, the company recently began providing participants with a bi-weekly 401K match to be deposited concurrently with 2018 paychecks. I hope this addresses your concerns and provides you with some additional insights. Regards, Nick
