Pros

The people are really smart, engaging and supportive Interesting projects and a lot of variety if you want to change what you work on Lots of opportunities to advance and to pursue your passions

Cons

Too many non-work related distractions, happy hours and meetings. You have to actively disengage in order to be productive Everyone at mid to senior level experience seems like they are spread too thin which sets an unhealthy example and burns out teams. Doesn't make sense because there are so many perks and overhead staff here that smaller offices don't have It is harder to work here if you are an introvert

Overall Amazing, But Low Salaries

Pros

Work/life balance is amazing. They take staffing and planning very seriously to ensure everyone works exactly 40 hours. And there's paid overtime in the rare event you work more than 40. There is a ton of collaboration across offices. It's pretty amazing how well they do this. Decent bonuses twice a year based on how well Gensler is doing. The caliber of client and overall opportunities are fantastic. Fun happy hours every Friday

Cons

Salary is lower than average and not very competitive. There are a ton of mandatory internal meetings that are always scheduled during lunch. And they consider all to be "donated time" and therefore unbillable. Plus 9/10 times lunch is not provided. Parking is not free and this is was not disclosed during the interview process. Surprise! $100 per month you didn't consider while negotiating salary! Not dog friendly :(

Great People. Low Pay.

Pros

Biggest is definitely great people. Everybody is nice, helpful and smart. Also values design a lot. You won't see anything that is not pretty. Work environment is physically and mentally open, which is awesome. Everybody gets sig-stand desk - the fav things at work.

Cons

Very low pay (at least for junior positions) and very hard to get "more" raise even if you perform well and you are paid much lower compared to market. Benefits are just ok as well. Technologies (software) are old. Junior talents don't stay long term. New York office has bad work/life balance compare to other offices. No career path and talent development for "non-design" positions. Leadership doesn't know what junior staff wants and needs. "Timesheet" system is just stupid. How can you be entrepreneur/innovative with no client to charge to.
