Pros

The Gensler “kool aid” is in large the great people that work there. There are perks like coffee, snack, learning resources, lots of lunch and learns, great tech tools, but the main reason to stay there through the years is the community of people that welcome you and mentor you.

Cons

The promotions process is very much like a popularity contest given the global size of the firm, it’s not uniquely based on offices and that makes it hard for introverts to be recognized for their hard work accurately. While there are lots of educational tools and opportunities within the firm it it hard to understand how to best approach the professional growth.

Pros

Great place for networking, you get to work on a lot of cool projects. If you are fresh out of college, Gensler is the place to be.

Cons

Leadership. People with tenure make it hard for change.

Pros

I decided to write this today because I found myself talking to my spouse yesterday about the projects we do at Gensler, and realized how engaged with the company's purpose and design thinking I am. The breadth and impact of the work we do is one-of-a-kind, in a way that you could never get at any other firm. The company culture is also outstanding, based on a set of guiding principles which have stood the test of time even as the company has grown into a larger company than the original founders could have anticipated. I feel lucky to be here and to be able to think and solve problems for a living while working alongside talented and passionate people.

Cons

No place is for everyone, and certainly we have some work-life balance issues to resolve. At times people get burned out. If I could change one thing it would be the PTO policy - when you have young children, it all goes to sick days and therefore no vacation time. It feels like you're penalized for illness.
