Pros

Exposure to great design thinking, interesting projects for cool clients.

Cons

Same exposure is exclusive. Favoritism is rampant. Growth can be limited and hyper competitive. It’s a worthwhile skill and resume builder, but know when to move on.

Pros

The people are generally amazing. Your friends and coworkers become your family. Lots of talented people doing their best and always willing to help. People are collaborative instead of competitive. Job stability, great bonuses after five years, and good benefits for a design firm. Top clients with the chance to work on some interesting projects.

Cons

The current sentiment among veteran employees is that we would not have lasted as long as we have have if the company was the way it is now five years or a decade ago. There is not enough mid-level staff, senior staff are stretched too thin and never in the office, and no one is getting the mentorship they require. People at the firm want to mentor and help their colleagues, so this is distressing to everyone. Concerns reported to management are given ear service, but not acted upon the majority of the time. People want to focus on design, but budget and speed take precedence more and more. Base compensation does not allow for a comfortable lifestyle if you are single or have children. People at all but the most senior levels are already severely stressed with their workload are also struggling to afford living expenses. The extreme emphasis on profitability is burning talented employees out at a rapid rate because they're being stretched everywhere. In the past few years, those who talk the loudest and the most are being recognized and rewarded disproportionately to the people doing the work. Those who actually make sure the projects succeed do not have time to participate in the many G-culture activities. Work/life balance has been increasingly untenable year after year. It's challenging to maintain your commitments after work no matter how efficient you are. PTO is low compared to other companies.
